Second Year Uni Catch-up

Grab your cups of teas people because today's post is going to be a bit more of a chatty kind of post compared to my last few. Which were actually nearly a month ago now, your girls been busy with all things uni, but since I have about a week where things are not as intense it's time to drill out all that blog content so I can still post even when the next lot of assignments and test roll round.

If you're new around here, hi hello nice to meet you, and didn't know, I'm currently in my second year of university studying astrophysics. I feel like it's been a while since I've last sat down and caught all of you up on what I'm doing at the moment. Plus I haven't really written many student-related contents on here and I kind of gave myself the title of student blogger whenever someone asks, so I should probably get round to making that student life content.

Honestly, the second year is no joke.

There is so much work to do, alongside all the revisions for exams [which start in April, not cool] there are assignments and class tests for each module. I know I signed up for this but please let me breathe around all this stress. So this girl who likes to go above and beyond gets rather swamped at some points, which is why I go silent a lot more in the online world than I would like to be a good blogger. But nonetheless, I love learning so this is not really a complaint on my behalf.

Apart from all the studying for my exams at the end of April, I've also been learning both Korean and HTML. I do love to challenge myself sometimes. Actually, HTML is a part of one of my modules since we're meant to be enhancing our CVs and to do that I've decided to learn another programming language as if Matlab and Python aren't enough. I chose this once since I can use it for my blog as well. Might as well hit two birds with one stone. I have a long term dream of coding my own blog template instead of buying ones, it might be a couple years down the line now but there you have it I've put it out in the open. Now I'm actually going to have to do it.

As for Korean, well I've been trying to learn it ever since I started watching Korean dramas, since though I'm okay with reading subtitles sometimes it would be nice to be able to multi-task while watching dramas (I can't be the only one who prefers to get stuff done while watching TV). But I also have another motivation now. I've not really spoken to anyone outside my family and close friends about this but I applied to the study abroad programme during my placement year next year, and well I'll be in South Korea studying astronomy for one semester next year!!!

The planning for my year out is actually a big part of what my spare time goes into. See I plan to do one semester with the study abroad program and the other working in an industrial placement. I've always had some kind of fear when it comes to applying for jobs, being someone who's never really had a job before, I always feel like I'm not the best person for the job and I stress and worry about if I'll even be able to do it. I think this is something like imposter syndrome that I feel but I'm trying to work towards overcoming it taking it one day at a time. Aside from the industrial placement, I'm also hoping to try my hand at some research over the summer. One of my ideal careers at the moment is in research, and since my university lecturers offer undergraduate places on their projects over the summer I'm going to try and see if I enjoy it.

It seems like this next year is going to be able pushing and challenging myself as I try and find out what I want to do with my life.

That's it really for what I've been up to recently. I've dedicated every moment too learning and improving as a person, and I plan to grow even when I'm not updating you all. I don't really get a lot of spare time around my uni life and studying for my degree but it's perfectly fine with me since I know I never want to stop learning.

How have you all been recently? Have you been up to anything fun?
