Favourites of 2018

chica y chico, favourites, 2018

Long time no see all!

It's been quite some time since I've sat down with my laptop opened on blogger the white page staring back at me, having the struggle of trying to figure out a way of getting the thoughts into my head into words on the screen.

I was actually going to write a whole post about what I had been up to recently as a way of getting my blogging groove back on, but in all honesty, I've not really been doing much but studying and completing a ton of university assignments. So instead I'm just going to jump right back into the mix of things and go old school blogging with my favourites of 2018.

Since recently I've been writing about beauty, let's start with my beauty favourites of 2018.

I'm going to split this into both makeup and skincare since for me they both deserve their own category. For make-up this year I will have to give it to the Chica Y Chico Matt Cushion, which I wrote a review about early this year if you want to check it out here. Though I've had a few more favourite products during the last month or two, this cushion has made it through 2018 with me. It's been a journey for my skin, myself and face makeup. We don't always get along, and in the past, there have been plenty of times where my skin has said outright no to some foundations and BB cushions, but this Chica Y Chico one seems to have won everyone over. I don't get the breakouts and my face doesn't look like a disco ball even after the long hot summer days. So I think it's going to be sticking around just a bit longer.

As for skincare, this is a tricky decision. I've tried many different products for my skin this year, some I blogged about and some I didn't. Even looking at all my products on top of my chest of draws, that are now in some sort of neatness after my little sister tidied it yesterday for me, thank you, I'm finding it hard to narrow it down. I think at the end of the day I've come out of 2018 with two absolute skincare favourites. One being the Superdrug Vitamin E Hydrating Mist, that I'm sure everyone has heard about at some point. I haven't ever written its own review but I've definitely mentioned it a couple times in the past year, it leaves my skin feeling amazing, and for someone who can have rather oily skin the hydration is just right. The other favourite of mine is the Cosrx pH Morning Cleanser. I'm not sure I've mentioned it but over the summer break my skin really went downhill, there were multiple reasons for it most likely but the one I focused on was the pH of my skin. I think it was after watching a Wishtrend video about different types of acne and them mentioning this product that I decided to try it. Well, nearly five months later and it's a staple in my routine. If anyone wants a full review on it just let me know and I can work on it in 2019.

Besides beauty, I like to think of myself as a blogger who also writes a fair few fashion posts. So I've been sat here trying to think of a favourite that would, therefore, fit in that category, but nothing is coming to mind. I've somewhat had a style crisis this year, more so the last few months, where I've not really felt like anything I wear is me. It most likely doesn't help that everyone seems to have their aesthetic whereas I like to dabble in everything. So this year there is no fashion favourite, instead, I think there is a goal for 2019 that can come out of this.

Other than the favourites that link to what I write about most on here I also wanted to mention some other favourites that have followed me through 2018...

Oh, this is not an easy thing to decide, there have been so many good movies out this year. I've also been the cinema way more this year than any other year in the past. I think at the end of the day being the Marvel fan that I am, I am going to have to name Infinity Wars as my favourite. Despite the cliffhanger at the end, I can never get enough of it and I'm super excited for Avengers 4 next year.

I feel like I've listened to less new music this year than any other year, mainly because I'm finding myself so busy that trying to follow groups/bands isn't the easiest thing to do. I think we all know at the end of the day BTS is going to be my favourite, and after seeing them live back in October that has been reinforced. For actual new music out this year, I think Fake Love, the rock version, is my favourite; I could listen to that on repeat. For a playlist, I've just kind of had the Attack on Titan soundtrack on for when I'm studying; surprisingly it helps me get more work done.

I wish I had the time to get lost in a good book, but these days I spend so much time studying that I just never find the time. I did read a few over summer though, that I totally put on my GoodReads account if you want to follow me. I would totally love to say books like Holding Up The Universe and Everything Everything reached number 1 for me since I couldn't put them down, but the only one that I remember the plot well for and couldn't stop reading is The Painted Man by Peter V.Brett. If you're into fantasy novels definitely give this one a go!

Over this year my 'style' of Youtube videos I like to watch has changed, as it does everything a few years. I'm still loving the likes of meejmuse and heyitsfeiii, but this year I've found a Youtuber by the name of Sorelle Amore that I love to watch. She is someone who has made me realise the type of photography I want to do as well as I guess motivating me to not just sit and wait for things to happen. Hopefully, in the new year, you'll all be able to see the progress I've made with photography if I can pick up the courage to post it. I'm trying to step away from typically 'bloggers' photos and create something of my own.

Sorelle, who I mentioned above is also on Instagram, and if you haven't seen her work I suggest you check it out! Instagram is a tricky one really, since I'm not really feeling inspiration from any of the photos there, and everything is starting to look the same, myself included in that. So if any of you have any suggestions of people to follow please send them my way.

Well, this was a rather lengthy post, even if it did take me a few days to write. I think I'm getting back into this blogging thing, and hopefully when I'm back at uni in the new year I'll feel more motivated to get some posts written; I'm really in holiday mode at the moment, but I'm not stressing about that too much after the last month I had a uni.

What are your favourites of 2018? I think I might try to get one more post up before this year ends, trying not to think how close 2019 is, wasn't it just 2012 a second ago. But otherwise, have a Merry Christmas all who celebrate it!
