Chica Y Chico Matt Cushion Review

Chica Y Chico Matt Cushion

This post feels like it has taken forever to get going since I just haven't been able to find the words to write this last week, but finally, I'm sat here trying to put down my thoughts on this cushion foundation in writing.

I've spoken many times about my love for Korean makeup products, and I think the cushion foundations are one that I'm not going to leave any time soon.

In the past year, I have tried two other foundation cushions, one Korean and one Western [you can totally check out those reviews here and here] besides this one, and currently this one if my number one favourite.

Before I get onto the product I thought I would mention a bit about the brand. Chica Y Chico is a South Korean beauty company that manufactures all its products in Korea and is a member of the LAB & Company family. Their products utilise prime ingredients like betaine salicylate, astaxanthin and Centella Asiatica extracts to heal and soothe skin. They are also cruelty-free! [I got all this information off Yesstyles website].

This is my first time using any Chica Y Chico products and I'm happy to say that it hasn't irritated my skin or acne at all. And though I not sure if it breaks me out more or not, since in this hot weather we've had I tend to break out more anyway and I've been using sheet masks every time I've been wearing full face makeup that day, no huge pimples have grown; which is what I would expect to happen if my skin didn't agree with any of the ingredients.

The actual product sitting on the cushion inside the sleek black, minimalistic packaging is of the colour NO.21. It baffled me for a while how this shade fitted so well to my skin tone since I'm rather on the pale side and I didn't think 21 was the palest of shades, but it came to me the other week that it could possibly be the SPF, this one being SPF 35 [with a PA++], that is makes it paler since we know that sunscreen has a white cast to it. Who knows but it suits me pretty well. So for those who look at the porcelain shades of the foundation range, this shade might just fit you.

The coverage of this foundation is actually pretty good as well. Though can become streaky when I'm too impatient to tap it all in and instead smear it with the cushion, it covers everything pretty well. Even those dark circles so I can some days not even have to concealer on them.

The formula is also Matte! Like an actual matt, and stays matte all day. Which I find is even rare in some western formula's. And in this weather we've been having over the last couple months, it's been a holy grail for my makeup whenever I've been needing a full face done.

The only problem I have with it is that it can go slightly patchy over my dry areas. But in all honesty, this happens to every foundation I've ever worn and I'm thinking I might need to try out some primers to solve that problem instead. Any recommendations are welcome!

Overall this product gets two big thumbs up out of me, and a 4.5 out of 5 rating as well.

I'm definitely going to keep this product in my makeup collection from now on!

Are there any other cushion foundation I should be trying out?
