Reflecting on 2018

Another year came and another year has gone.

2018 has been a year of ups and a year of downs, but I'm pleased to say I've come out of it okay.

I didn't write any resolutions for this year since I wanted to be realistic with myself and wasn't sure how much I could achieve, so when I look back I don't really have much to compare myself against.

Despite that, even I can see how much I've grown in the last 365 days.

Favourites of 2018

chica y chico, favourites, 2018

Long time no see all!

It's been quite some time since I've sat down with my laptop opened on blogger the white page staring back at me, having the struggle of trying to figure out a way of getting the thoughts into my head into words on the screen.

I was actually going to write a whole post about what I had been up to recently as a way of getting my blogging groove back on, but in all honesty, I've not really been doing much but studying and completing a ton of university assignments. So instead I'm just going to jump right back into the mix of things and go old school blogging with my favourites of 2018.

Cruelty-free K-Beauty Brands

cruelty-free k-beauty

If you been a reader of my blog for a while now you'll recognise my support for cruelty-free makeup and skincare as well as my interest in Korean beauty. And with those in mind, this post came about.

I know it can be difficult to find out whether a foreign brand is cruelty-free or not since, as much as I would love to be, I'm not an expert in every language. So I thought it might be of help to compose a list of brands for everyone. I hope it will be of use to some of you!

November Bullet Journal Spread

Well, October, it's been fun [and stressful] but I think it's time to part ways for another year. So hello November, I hope we'll have as much fun as October was.

And with another month, you know what that means. It's time for another look inside my bullet journal to see how I've set it out to tackle November.

Femme Luxe First Impressions

If anyone remembers back at around the start of the year and once again in the middle, I wrote some blog posts with the intention of reviewing online clothes retailers, in the hopes of it being helpful for you all. Well, we can see that never really took off!

However, when FemmeLuxe, a brand I have seen floating around in the blogosphere recently dropped me an email asking if I would like to try out some of their items I saw the chance to be able to add another segment to this series.

Dear Klairs Soft Airy UV Essence Review

dear klairs soft airy uv essence

What is the one thing we have the tendency to miss out from out of our skincare routines?

I don't know if it's just me or not but one thing that I never give its own step is UV protection. Don't get me wrong I like to include it in other products but I've never specifically gone out a purchased a product for the purpose of protecting my skin from the sun.

Jouellerie Jewellery Review

Jouellerie Jewellery Review

I always like to say, that for every outfit there is a piece of jewellery that completes it. Despite this, I actually don't own much jewellery outside of the pieces you got as a kid from magazines or Claires. So when the other month the lovely people at Jouellerie Jewellery offered to send me these gorgeous pieces from their collection to review I thought why not.

October Bullet Journal Spread

Here we are, once again, at the start of a new month. A new month for new adventures but one thing that just doesn't change is the constant blogger comment on how fast the last month has gone. At the beginning of the month it didn't feel that fast, while I sat at home preparing to be back at university, but now two weeks into this academic year and can say that the end of September has flown by.

Anyway since you all seem to really enjoy these posts, here we have it my bullet journal spread for October.

University Room Tour - 2nd Year Edition

As I'm sat here now it's been one whole week since I moved back into halls for my second year of university. After a hectic week of starting lectures and being constantly anxious about going to make food since I didn't know any of my new flatmates, I'm here to give you the second edition to my university room tours.

Student Bullet Journal Spread

student bullet journal

For you bullet journal lovers out there it's your lucky month, being that I've got two bullet journal spread blog posts for you all.

I have this feeling that this might be a little late for those of you who have started back at school already, or have been prepared for the coming term and already set it up. But for those of you who haven't or those who've read this when planning for term two then I hope you can all find some inspiration.

September Bullet Journal Spread

It's another month, and that means it is time for another bullet journal spread!

This month is the month to get all set up for going back to university. So there are bits and pieces for that mixed in with September's spread. I will also be putting up a student bullet journal spread in a couple weeks for the pages dedicated just for university.

Tips & Tricks For Freshers Week

The first week of unversity was probably one of the toughest weeks I've ever gone through in my life. Far less of a structured schdual than college or school. Knowing practically noone on campus. And not having the warmth and familiarity of home to go back to every day. All these things made the first week, Fresher's Week, one of the most daunting times during my first year at university. So for todays post, with the help of some of my friends, I've gathered a list of trips and tricks to help you survive freshers week.

The Forgotten Items Of University Checklists

university checklist

As much as we don't want to think about it, it's that back-to-school season once again. And this year I want to try writing more posts inclined at those going to or back to university this year. So if there is anything you would like to see just let me know; I plan a few days to a week in advance so there's still time.

Derma V10 Clay Mask Review

We all know by now how much I love my skincare, and giving my skin the love and pampering it needs every so often. So when the lovely people at DermaV10 offered to send my their three clay masks to review I couldn't resist.

Chica Y Chico Matt Cushion Review

Chica Y Chico Matt Cushion

This post feels like it has taken forever to get going since I just haven't been able to find the words to write this last week, but finally, I'm sat here trying to put down my thoughts on this cushion foundation in writing.

I've spoken many times about my love for Korean makeup products, and I think the cushion foundations are one that I'm not going to leave any time soon.

August Bullet Journal Spread

Yeah, I'm definitely going to be starting all these types of posts with questioning how quick the last month has flown by. But seriously it's gone way to fast that I feel like I've accomplished nothing during July, so let's hope more happens during August because there is so much I want to do before going back to university in Septemeber.

Everything Everything Book Review

Finally with this long summer break I've been able to once again pick up books and get myself sucked back into the different worlds that I used to love doing so often when I was younger.

Styling Maxi Dresses For The Summer ft Boohoo

boohoo maxi dress

I've only ever owned one maxi-dress before, so when Boohoo challenged me to style one of their dresses for summer from their maxi-dress section on their website I was so for it.

So on Wednesday when one of my friends from university travelled down to see me we took a walk in the woods and snapped a few photos of how I would wear a maxi dress.

One Item, Three Outfits

This is a post I've wanted to have a go at for some time now. I've seen this sort of 'challenge' here and there on the world wide web and wanted to see what I could to do with one item of clothing.

So for this post I thought I would style this black dress three different ways that I would think of making it slightly different.

To Share Or Not To Share

How much I share online and offline is always something that is more to the front of my mind rather than the back. Even more so these last couple of weeks where I've been contemplating creating and sharing a facebook page for my blog.

Troiareuke Aesthetic Starter Kit Review ft StyleKorean

My skin has had a tough battle with this weather we are currently having in the UK, but despite that, I've been putting products from Troiareuke to the test so I think it's about time for a review. I was lucky enough to receive this Troiareuke Aesthetic Starter Kit from StyleKorean as part of their #TryMeReviewMe campaign, however, every thought and opinion in this post is my own and how I truly feel about the products.

Mask Time May Glow Setter Box Review

Korean sheet masks

By now I'm sure we've all realised how much I enjoy skincare, particularly any Korean skincare. And of that one of my favourite parts of any skincare routine is a good sheet mask. But as it is, it can be relatively tricky to find any or get any shipped here to the UK without the huge shipping fees. So when I discovered Mask Time I was over the moon.

Styling Mum's Clothing #2

styling mum's clothing

Around this time last year, I uploaded a post [here if you want to check it out] where I had raided my mother's wardrobe and styled a piece of clothing she owned pairing it with items from my own wardrobe. It was one of the posts I most enjoyed creating so I thought it was about time to bring back the post idea for a second instalment and possibly make it into a series if you all would like to see more like it.

A Cruelty Free Skincare Routine

cruelty free skincare

I've mentioned a couple of times this year already that I have been trying to go cruelty free with my makeup and skincare, so when the people at Green People offered to send me some of their Organic Young range to try out I jumped at the chance to be able to try out some different skincare which has also been a goal to do this year to try and find something that works amazing on my skin and deal with how complicated it can be to look after.

Collection Glam Crystals Liquid Eyeshadow Review

makeup review

It's been awhile since I last wrote a make-up product review, but I hope you all still like reading them.

I discovered the Collection Glam Crystals Liquid Eyeshadows through Lucy's blog, Forever September, where she mentioned how they were a dupe of the Stila liquid eyeshadows. The Stila liquid eyeshadows were something I had been eyeing up for a while but were always and still are priced at a higher price than I would spend on one piece of makeup.

A Romwe Review

At the beginning of the year, I had decided that I was going to create this little series here on the blog about online stores and review them for you all since I know they can be helpful when debating to buy anything off them. Alas it's halfway through the year and I'm only on the second one [the first one you can find here], but nonetheless, I'm going to keep it going even if my bank account starts to cry.

Romwe is one of those online stores that is either a hit or a miss, luckily for me it was a pretty good hit.

June Bullet Journal Spread

If you follow me on twitter you'd know the other week I asked for inspiration for starting a bullet journal, and you didn't fail me!

I've been wanting to start a bullet journal for years but never did for multiple reasons such as the actual journal being way too expensive for my liking. But when I found this one for under three pounds I thought why not. If I don't keep it up that I haven't wasted too much and if I do keep it going well I can then invest more into it in the future.

Cruelty-Free Brand Week with WishTrend

Suprise! I'm back with a mid-week post. I might actually get back into posting twice a week now that I have such a long summer break.

My First Year of Uni Experience

One year down, three more to go!

In honesty, I can't quite believe how quickly this last year has gone. It's turning out to be quite true what adults told us when we were younger about time passing by far more quickly as the years went on. I look back at myself this time last year and it doesn't seem like that long ago. It doesn't feel like I've had enough time to grow and change. But looking back on this past year I'm somewhat proud of where I am now.

S/S18 Wishlist

It has been a while since I sat and wrote a wish list. My last one was back in Autumn, that you can totally check out some time here. But since it's now spring, even if the weather doesn't completely agree, and I've just had my birthday, time to treat myself I think, I thought I put all my ideas into one place.

Birthday Haul

Tuesday the 27th of March was the day I turned another year older, making the running total now nineteen. Birthdays have not really been a big thing for me ever. It's just another day of the year to me. Despite that, when talking to the girls on the twitter chat and them asking what I received for my birthday it seems that reading birthday haul posts are still of interest. So this year, for once, I thought I might as well write this post.

Current Evening Skincare Routine

I made it a goal this year to slowly start working on my skincare routine and find something that works well for my skin. Though it still isn't perfect, at the moment this has been working for me, so I thought I would share it before the products run out. Plus hopefully, I can get some ideas for replacements for some of these products since not all of them are cruelty-free.

YesStyle Haul + Mini Review

I made it a goal for myself this year to try and test out more online stores and different fashion pieces, since both, I rarely do because they make me feel anxious. So when the other month I found a couple of pieces I quite liked in Yesstyle I thought "why not?" and order them. And since most of you on Twitter voted for a try-on haul here it is.

The Body Shop Cushion Foundation Review

Fresh nude cushion foundation

I think it is finally time to put this blog post into action and get writing on the review that I promised I would write for you all back when I put up my New Year Haul.

I've been using The Body Shop Fresh Nude Cushion Foundation for over a month now, possibly six weeks, so I think it's about time to spill all my thoughts about it and how my skin has reacted.

Am I Really A Blogger?

You ever had those thoughts that keep you awake as you try to sleep. Okay, they might not keep me awake for long since I'm the sort of person who as some as my head hits the pillow I'm pretty much in the land of dreams in a finger click, but the other night (or the other week I should say by the time I get round to finishing up this post) this thought did cross my mind. Can I consider myself a blogger?

New Year Haul

This post is a bit belated but better late than never right.

It's not often I buy enough stuff in one go to be able to make a post out of it all but since over the Christmas and New Year period I decided to treat myself - which I very rarely do - I was able to add a few pieces to my wardrobe and make-up collection.

Heimish All Clean Balm Review

Each new product I add to my skincare routine I do research to see if what I'm buying will actually be worth adding to it. This Hemish cleansing balm is one of those. So I thought today I could share how I'm reacting to it after using it for just a little under a months time

Winter Walks

I'm sure there are not many families out there who venture out to the seaside in the middle of winter, days after a storm has hit. But on the 30th of December, we all five, my family and me, climbed into the car and made our way to Skegness beach.

New year Resolutions I'm not going to keep

Every year I write a list of resolutions that I always seem to be unable to keep for more than a couple of days. So this year I thought instead why don't I just write a list of things that if I don't keep to I won't worry about it.
